Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering, the Plumber maintains various plumbing and pipe systems, utilities, mechanical and structural aspects of the facility. Incumbent will perform maintenance tasks on water supply, sewage and drainage equipment as well as installation, alteration, repair and general maintenance of all plumbing, heating gas piping systems and related equipment. Provides recommendations on the design of piping and plumbing systems as well as replacing, modifying and performing major repairs on existing piping and plumbing systems. Assists trades and other maintenance staff as required and performs other duties as assigned. Assists in keeping mechanical and shop areas clean. May be required to rotate on-call responsibilities at the discretion of the Manager. This position may be required to work at other hospital sites for a longer duration within the Edmonton Zone (including rural). These sites include Alberta Hospital Edmonton, Sturgeon Community Hospital, Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital, Strathcona Community Hospital / CASA, Northeast Community Health Centre, Leduc Community Hospital, Devon General Hospital, Westview Health Centre, Henwood Treatment Centre, Food Service Centre and Central Production North.
Description:
As a Plumber, you will plan, install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment and controls used to transport water, waste, gas and air. You will be responsible for monitoring, testing, trouble shooting, documenting and analyzing performance of plumbing, medical gas, domestic hot & cold water, tempered water, glycol, chilled water, natural gas, storm and sanitary sewer, associated distribution and control systems and equipment. In addition, you will prepare feasibility and cost estimates and reports; request or order supplies.

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Plumber Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
Additional Required Qualifications:Valid Alberta Journeyman Plumber certificate recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by related technical courses. Five years’ experience at Journeyman level with a maintenance background. Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence. Previous experience in general building maintenance. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair as necessary. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to comprehend and utilize a computerized maintenance system. Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in an institutional / hospital environment is preferred.
