Your Opportunity:

Healthy Albertans. Healthy Communities. Together. Grande Prairie, found in northwest Alberta, is a growing city with over 70,000 residents and serving approximately 260,000 people in the trading area. Grande Prairie has something for everyone! Outdoor and indoor recreation opportunities are available at the numerous parks and golf courses, in addition to a state of the art recreation facility. The city also has a vibrant arts and culture community with an art gallery, a few museums, and live theater. There are also a multitude of dining and shopping opportunities. Your opportunity is in a new 19 bed Transition Care Unit at the QEII Ambulatory Care Centre to support patients as they transition from acute care to another level of care or to return home. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on collaboration both within the larger care team and other community providers as appropriate to provide the best care during stay and upon discharge. Reporting to the Area Manager Allied Health, you will be responsible for providing assessment and treatment services on the unit, supervising therapy assistants, and creating appropriate recommendations upon discharge. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. We have a supportive multi-disciplinary team and a very strong focus on work life balance.

Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings.
