The Team Leader provides clinical leadership and coordination, ensures day-to-day operations within his/her assigned team that may include staff from single or multiple disciplines. Leadership and participation are required in program planning and evaluation; resource allocation; staff development, selection, orientation, and evaluation; and education and consultation to the community. The Team Leader ensures that the clinical practice of the orthopedic inpatient team is evidence based and meets clinical practice standards. Current assignment includes Team Leader- amputee inpatients and a clinical caseload on the amputee unit. Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven critical analytical thinking skills are required, effective teaching skills, proven ability to effectively communicate; both written and verbally, excellent problem-solving skills, and computer skills are required. Minimum of three years’ experience working in the rehabilitation of adults with orthopedic conditions is required. Strong and effective leadership skills, organizational skills are required as well as conflict resolution/negotiation skills. The successful incumbent will be capable of performing lifts, transfers, repositioning, and other physically demanding activities associated with this role. Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association (PACA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Physical Therapy, previous experience working in a tertiary rehabilitation setting, previous team leader experience in tertiary rehabilitation context. Connect Care proficiency is preferred.
