The Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is a metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds, located in SW Calgary. RGH AH department works collaboratively with all clinical teams: ED, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units, Orthopaedics, Mental Health & the Acute Geriatric Units. Operating under a Primary Therapist model & working in conjunction with an OT, this PT role involves assessing, treating, & discharging patients. Job duties will require a comprehensive range of PT skills. The environment can be challenging & fast-paced, so we are looking for a clinician who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work cohesively in an inter-disciplinary setting, effective in time management & demonstrates professional initiative. This position is physically demanding & requires repetitive lifting & transferring of patients & equipment. Weekend & evening coverage & student supervision is expected for all positions on the PT team. Caseloads within the AH department may be subject to change based on operational considerations. Hours & days of work will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Description:
As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.
Additional Required Qualifications:Current (BCLS-HCP) required. Minimum one year as a Physiotherapist in urban adult Acute Care within the last two years. Experience in cardio-respiratory.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with the Arthroplasty Discharge program. Experience as a Physiotherapist at Rockyview General Hospital. Experience in medicine/surgery. Experience in critical care. Experience working on Acute Geriatric Unit/Transition units. Experience working with geriatric populations. Orthopaedic experience.
