Your Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Red Deer Seating Team, a specialized service providing comprehensive seating assessment and intervention to community clients with complex wheelchair and seating needs. This position is based out of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and supports clients across multiple communities within the Central Zone. The successful candidate will practice as part of a highly collaborative seating service, working closely with an Occupational Therapist specializing in seating, as well as seating vendors and referring therapists. Each team member contributes discipline‑specific expertise to achieve optimal, client‑centered seating outcomes. This role is well supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and the Physiotherapy Professional Practice Lead, offering a strong professional practice environment. Key Responsibilities: Conduct specialized assessments for clients with complex wheelchair and seating needs. Develop, recommend, and implement customized seating and mobility solutions. Collaborate closely with an Occupational Therapist specializing in seating to provide comprehensive, interdisciplinary care. Work collaboratively with seating vendors to trial, configure, and adjust equipment. Consult and communicate effectively with referring therapists and community partners. Provide education and support to clients and caregivers to promote comfort, function, and safety. Ensure practice aligns with professional standards, clinical best practices, and funding program requirements (e.g., AADL).

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Experience working with clients to address complex seating needs. AADL authorizer.
