Your Opportunity:

This position offers the opportunity to be part of an exciting pediatric program that services communities across the Edmonton Zone. As a Physiotherapist I (PT I), you will work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide assessment/screening, consultation, intervention and education services to children, youth and families. Our teams work collaboratively to offer evidence informed universal, targeted and personalized service options with a focus on client centered, functional goal setting and improved participation outcomes. Families are involved in decision making and are empowered to be active participants in the rehabilitation process. As a member of the Pediatric Community Rehabilitation team: You may be asked to support SLP service planning and participate in mentoring of colleagues and students. You will establish and maintain effective communication with colleagues and other healthcare practitioners to support care planning, progress, and discharge. You will work in partnership with families and community partners as needed to facilitate referrals and connections to other services. You will be responsible for maintaining clinical data and electronic documentation. The successful applicant will practice in alignment with regulatory standards and legislation as well as professional, organizational and program policies, procedures and practice guidelines (including meeting workload targets). As such, the incumbent must achieve a successful passing grade in observations of clinical practice in the probationary/trial period and annually.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Cardiac Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS-HCP). Additional required: As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate proficiency in: Interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with team members, including families and community partners. Self-direction, independent problem solving and decision-making, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic, fast paced environment. Integration of patient and family centered care principles in all areas of practice. Proficiency in computer applications including word processing, email, internet access and data entry. Physical ability to demonstrate/support clients with various movements/positions, support client transfers and lift/carry greater than 20lbs. Practice according to clinical practice standards and consistent with the Values of AHS: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety.

Preferred Qualifications:

3 years of recent pediatric experience. Demonstrated understanding of community services and resource. Knowledge of and/or use of an EMR.
