With the Red Deer River to the North and the Bow River to the South, the area surrounding Brooks is known for great outdoor recreation. Sites to see include the Brooks Aqueduct National Historical site, Waterton International Park, Lake Newell (one of the country's largest person-made lakes), Rolling Hills Reservoir, and Dinosaur Park, World Heritage Site and home of the Royal Tyrrell Museum. The city of Brooks is one of fastest growing communities in Alberta with a multi-cultural flavor unique to other municipalities in Alberta boasting a population of 14,000+. Brooks is steadily growing with residential and commercial development. Brooks has a Regional Ball Park, a wide range of restaurants, grocery and retail outlets, plus facilities including the Medicine Hat College, 2 high schools, 3 junior high schools, 4 elementary schools and a Francophone school. The rocky mountains are a 2 hour drive West for a mountain adventure weekend. This part time with benefits position covers services for preschool and school aged children. You will work with skilled and highly collaborative colleagues at this office, including 3 SLPs, OT, PT, TA and Social Work! Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current experience working as an AHS Pediatric Physiotherapist is required. Keen interest and desire to work with children and families is required. Excellent, supportive and respectful interpersonal relationships with clients and team members/colleagues. Proven and consistent, solution focused, positive communication and collaboration with clients and all team members is required.
