Pharmacy Technician - Quality Assurance Lead
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Distribution Practice & Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Assurance Leader (QAL) works independently as well as in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team, Technicial Practice Leaders, Aseptic Leads and other internal and external parties. The QAL is responsible to develop and implement quality assurance programs at their assigned sites to monitor for compliance with established standards and guidelines (e.g., National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities [NAPRA], Alberta College of Pharmacists [ACP], Alberta Health Services [AHS]). The QAL provides site-based support for verification of sterile and non-sterile compounding personnel, facilities, and equipment.
Description:
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications:A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in hospital pharmacy, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity with practice experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile and non-sterile compounding. A minimum of 2 years' experience as an Aseptic Lead. Leadership skills including an understanding of adult learning concepts, demonstrated ability to coach and teach, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to translate complex concepts into understandable components. Ability to prioritize workload and multiple projects on an ongoing basis to meet the needs of a dynamic work environment. Project management skills to plan, develop, and implement new programs. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite programs and pharmacy software programs. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 2 years informal pharmacy leadership experience (e.g. technician educator, medication safety, compounding, repackaging, and/or project technician). Completion of change management education. Completion of Introduction to LEADs in a Caring Environment. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization. Recent volunteer experience with a pharmacy professional organization, regulatory or certification body.
