Pharmacy Technician
Your Opportunity:
AHS is seeking a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team at Foothills Medical Centre. You will work to full scope of practice and support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in all areas of medication distribution. Responsibilities include coordinating and performing sterile & non-sterile compounding, final checks of medications, inventory, and procurement activities. You will check and dispense patient-specific medication orders prepared by Pharmacy Assistants and other Technicians, prepare and check repackaged medications, and complete Patient BPMHs in a clinical setting. The role also involves mentoring Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians, training new staff, and precepting students while collaborating closely with pharmacists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams. You will adhere to NAPRA and ACP standards, oversee delegated tasks, and contribute to operational activities and quality improvement initiatives. Strong verbal and written English communication skills, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail are essential. Physical demands include standing, walking, keyboarding, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. The role includes handling hazardous medications using appropriate PPE. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates reliability, critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and teamwork. You must be able to work independently and as part of a team, follow established procedures, and adapt to changing workflows and technology. As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications:Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Open availability for all shift times and tasks is required. Completion of ACP Jurisprudence Exam and all Structured Practical Training hours is required. Committed to continual personal quality improvement and lifelong learning. Recent experience within a hospital or community pharmacy.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience and certification in non-sterile compounding is preferred. Recent experience and certification within the past 12 months in sterile compounding is preferred. Recent experience and certification within the past 12 months in hazardous compounding is preferred. Recent experience with unit dose drug distribution is preferred.
