Your Opportunity:

AHS is seeking a skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join the pharmacy team at South Health Campus. You will work to full scope of practice and support safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care in all areas of medication distribution.Responsibilities include coordinating and performing sterile & non-sterile compounding, final checks of medications, inventory, and procurement activities. You will check and dispense patient-specific medication orders prepared by Pharmacy Assistants and other Technicians, prepare and check repackaged medications, and complete Patient BPMHs in a clinical setting. The role also involves mentoring Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians, training new staff, and precepting students while collaborating closely with pharmacists and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.You will adhere to NAPRA and ACP standards, oversee delegated tasks, and contribute to operational activities and quality improvement initiatives. Strong verbal and written English communication skills, professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail are essential. Physical demands include standing, walking, keyboarding, lifting, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and kneeling. The role includes handling hazardous medications using appropriate PPE.The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates reliability, critical thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and teamwork. Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Understanding of NAPRA and compliance to sterile and non-sterile compounding. Recent experience in hospital pharmacy. Fluency in the English language (both written and verbal). Demonstrated communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, organizational and problem solving. Demonstrated ability to work in teams. Preferred Qualifications:

Recent SHC experience is an asset. Experience with BPMH in a clinical setting. Connect Care/Epic computer program experience. 2 years + experience and valid certification in sterile compounding & non-sterile compounding. Experience in chemotherapy. Checking of interim doses, cart fills, sterile compounding and non-sterile compounding. Experience and knowledge of automated dispensing cabinets. Membership with a pharmacy professional organization.
