Your Opportunity:

The Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre will be the largest comprehensive cancer center in Canada and a world-leading healthcare facility for research and education in oncology. The centre will include both inpatient and outpatient services. The Pharmacy is an integral component of the facility. The Pharmacy Technician will be practicing within their full scope and will perform all aspects of drug distribution to provide for the efficient daily operations leading to safe and quality patient care. The Pharmacy Technician’s responsibilities will include order entry, preparation, repackaging, final product checking of sterile and non-sterile products, individual patient prescriptions and ward stock. Will also guide and assist with the training and orientation of staff and students. Participating in special projects and programs as assigned. Maintaining department records and statistics and preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues. Maintaining a high standard of performance through the completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks such as aseptic technique, computer order entry, and final product checking.

Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Current, provisional, or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
