Pharmacy Technician
Your Opportunity:
Pharmacy Technicians in Correctional Health work in a secure environment, collaborating with healthcare teams, correctional staff, and external partners to care for adults and youth in custody. They handle all aspects of drug distribution, including barcoding, preparing, and repackaging patient-specific and ward stock medications, as well as methadone. Additional duties include maintaining controlled substance records, managing inventory, performing final checks, supporting purchasing, training staff and students, assisting with medication reconciliation, and working with the healthcare team to resolve medication-related issues.
Description:
As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.
Additional Required Qualifications:Requirement of the position is you must be cleared by Correctional Service Canada. Requires the ability to stand, walk, perform repetitive tasks, and lift to 30 lbs. regularly (up to 50 lbs. occasionally), with the manual dexterity and visual acuity needed to prepare medications safely and accurately. The ideal Pharmacy Technician is a self-starter who can work independently with confidence, consistently demonstrating sound judgment and accountability in a unique environment. They will contribute positively to the team by communicating well, supporting shared goals, and maintaining a collaborative, respectful approach to daily operations.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in a hospital or correctional setting within the last 2 years. Experience with Willow Inpatient. Active membership in a pharmacy professional organization.
