Pharmacy Manager - Inpatient
Your Opportunity:
The Manager, Pharmacy Services at Foothill Medical Center is a key leadership role and reports directly to the Director, Calgary Zone Pharmacy Services. This position is accountable for the overall performance of pharmacy services and ensures alignment with Zone strategies and initiatives and compliance with Alberta College of Pharmacists regulations and standards. This position is responsible and accountable for providing operational leadership and decision making in support of the core businesses of Pharmacy services within Alberta Health Services: Direct patient care, Drug distribution, Education and practice research. The Manager, Pharmacy Services is also responsible for leadership of pharmacy personnel at FMC. Facilitating and sustaining the learning needs of clinical pharmacists in order to optimize their professional and clinical development. Identifying budget requirements for the site (human, material and capital resources) to safely meet department and patient needs and optimize the pharmacy workforce on that site. The Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders as required providing optimal and integrated services.
Description:
Relationship Management: Aligns with Zone and Program direction, influencing key organizational initiatives within FMC and building commitment to the vision of Pharmacy Services. Serves as the direct supervisor for FMC pharmacists and collaborates closely with Site Operations Managers and clerical staff. Leads pharmacy teams in delivering patient-focused services, clarifies performance expectations, and ensures practice alignment with the Provincial Pharmacy Services vision. Demonstrates change leadership by initiating, implementing, and supporting new or revised approaches, practices, and processes. Proactively identifies and advances opportunities for improvement across FMC. Operational Leadership: Accountable for the implementation, operationalization, management, and monitoring of Pharmacy Services delivery within FMC. Establishes and prioritizes pharmacy program delivery within the framework set by Zone and Provincial Pharmacy Services. Provides operational leadership to Site Operations Managers and staff in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy programs and overall pharmacy services at FMC. Strategic Planning: Participates in the development of strategic and operational plans and is accountable for their implementation and evaluation to support patient-focused care programs and service delivery at FMC. Resource Management: Plans and allocates resources effectively, authorizes and monitors expenditures, and is accountable for the responsible management of financial and human resources within FMC, including strategic workforce planning. Risk Management: Promotes a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement to support safe, high-quality care for patients and a supportive work environment for staff.

A minimum of BSC degree in Pharmacy, and eligible or registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacists. A minimum of 5-7 years in a hospital pharmacy role ideally in an organization of similar size, complexity and diversity. Additional Required Qualifications:
Progressive leadership experience in a hospital pharmacy environment, including 2 to 3 years’ experience in a management role in hospital pharmacy operations. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term initiatives and projects and deliver customer-focused results.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and mentoring and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector.
