Are you ready to make a meaningful impact in healthcare? As a Pharmacy Assistant in High Prairie, you’ll play a key role in ensuring patients across Alberta receive safe, timely, and effective medication. This is a rewarding opportunity to support patient care while contributing to pharmacy operations in a fast paced, collaborative environment. Working under the supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, you will assist with distribution, delivery, and inventory management. Daily tasks include selecting and labeling medications, replenishing patient specific carts and ward stock, and performing ordering and receiving duties. You’ll use automated and computerized systems to support accuracy and efficiency. Strong verbal and written English communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to confidentiality and teamwork are essential. You will also mentor and train other Pharmacy Assistants, new staff, and students. The ideal candidate demonstrates accuracy, professionalism, reliability, and the ability to succeed in a dynamic and continually evolving environment. You must be able to follow instructions, work independently and collaboratively, and adapt to changing workflows and technologies. Physical demands include visual acuity, keyboarding, heavy lifting and grip strength, twisting, crouching, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and extended periods of standing and walking. This role also involves handling hazardous medications with appropriate PPE. AHS offers opportunities for career growth, advancement, and continuing education. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Physical requirements include lifting, up to 30 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally, plus frequent pushing, pulling, and extended standing or sitting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from a recognized Canadian pharmacy assistant program, or at least 12 months of recent experience (within the past 2 years) that includes inventory control, and medication picking is preferred. Experience in a hospital pharmacy or similar setting, particularly with automated dispensing equipment and Willow Pharmacy (Connect Care), is considered an asset. Familiarity with pharmaceutical or medical terminology is also advantageous.
