Pharmacy Assistant
Your Opportunity:
Central Production (CP) is an offsite facility that provides pharmacy distribution services to AHS sites within the Calgary Zone. Services include but are not limited to sterile and non-sterile compounding, unit/multi-dose oral solid and liquid prepackaging, and inventory procurement and distribution. Core duties include but are not limited to packaging, distributing, barcoding, shipping medications, and managing and replenishing medication inventory levels under the general supervision of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians. Performs other duties deemed necessary or as assigned. The job will be based out of Central Production Pharmacy and may require travel. Performs all wardstock functions. Packages and labels pharmaceuticals according to established procedures. Assists pharmacy technicians with non-sterile components of sterile pharmaceutical product preparation. Fills wardstock, orders stock, and picks and receives pharmacy inventory and supplies according to established quotas and procedures. Monitors pharmacy inventory and supplies for outdated products. Charges and credits medications per established procedure. Prints and distributes reports from the pharmacy computer system. Completes records and filing associated with all duties. Participates in site quality assurance/improvement activities to ensure standards are maintained. Maintains site-specific standards of performance, including achievement of mandatory internal certifications. Performs other duties deemed necessary or assigned. Displays professionalism, tact, courtesy, and discretion and respects confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, cooperative, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate effective service attitude. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program and/or 6 months Recent Retail or hospital Pharmacy experience acceptable to the employer required. Required to stand and or sit for long periods at a time. Required to work with arms extended for sustained periods of time. Required to lift up to 30 lbs. and occasionally 50 lb., push/pull carts, repetitive bending. Displays professionalism, tact, courtesy, and discretion and respects confidentiality. Must be accurate, reliable, precise, cooperative, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate an effective service attitude. Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of various office equipment, unit dose packaging equipment, and pharmaceutical compounding equipment preferred. Knowledge of Pharmacy Drug Formulary preferred. Fluency in the English language (written and verbal). Good organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
