Your Opportunity:

Are you a motivated and dedicated Pharmacist interested in making a meaningful impact providing patient care? AHS is seeking a skilled professional to join our pharmacy team at Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH). ACH prides itself on engaging patients and families on a regular basis through a family centered approach to care. ACH is a leader in pediatric and neonatal care and is a major referral center for pediatric malignancies and complex hematological treatment including pediatric bone marrow transplants. Alberta's only hospice for children (Rotary Flames House) is located next door to ACH. In this role, you will work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote the safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications. You will assess patients for medication related issues, contribute to comprehensive medication management plans, and help optimize therapeutic outcomes. This hospital based position includes participation in patient care rounds, close collaboration with clinical teams, and engagement with patients and families to individualize therapy. Responsibilities include reviewing and verifying medication orders and may also involve checking prepared products such as oral, parenteral, and chemotherapeutic medications. You may assist with special access or investigational drug therapies and support pharmacy operations through mentorship of new staff, precepting students, and providing guidance to Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians. This position requires availability for day, evening, on-call and weekend shifts. Direct patient care responsibility could be in general pediatrics, complex care, HOT (hematology, oncology, transplant), PICU, NICU or emergency. ACH Pharmacists also provide direct patient care to patients located in the NICU and adolescent mental health units located at the Foothills Medical Center.
