The Lacombe Hospital Pharmacy supports 34 acute care beds primarily focused on rural general medicine as well as supporting 72 continuing care beds. The Lacombe Pharmacy team provides distribution and clinical services to Acute, Continuing Care and Emergency patients at the site. Pharmacists also provide remote support coverage to other rural sites in Central Zone. Lacombe Hospital provides a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for pharmacists, where they provide specialized and general medicine care to patients. The Pharmacy department is supported by a team of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants working towards their full scope of practice to allow the pharmacists to focus on clinical activities working to their full scope of practice.
Description:
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Preferred Qualifications:Successful candidates without Additional Prescribing Authorization are expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing, dependent on eligibility. Self-directed learning & continuing education. Good time management including ability to switch priorities & multitask. Excellent written & verbal communication and interpersonal skills, good organizational & problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; can work independently & cooperatively in a team environment. Rural hospital experience.
