Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Services, Drug Information & Application (DIA) Manager, the Pharmacist I - Drug Information and Application Pharmacist plays a vital role in supporting the development, organization, and evaluation of drug information services across the province of Alberta. This includes: Providing healthcare professionals with accurate, timely, and unbiased information on drugs and pharmacotherapy. Providing training, including but not limited to, managing drug information requests, accessing available drug information resources effectively and maintaining drug information resources. Contributing to the development, maintenance and continuous quality improvement of SMART infusion pump drug libraries. Creating and maintaining AHS Parenteral Monographs including new monographs, updates to existing monographs, and addressing inquiries related to the monographs. Participating in various committees, supporting provincial standardization initiatives and engaging with provincial working partners. There is flexibility as to the location of this hybrid position within the province of Alberta. Occasional travel between sites may be required.

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience applying evidence-based medicine in direct patient care (minimum 2 years) required. Effective oral and written communication skills required. Excellent organizational and time management skills, including ability to switch priorities and multitask, required. Proven ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment required. Excellent skills using a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and pharmacy computer software required. Completion of accredited Canadian hospital pharmacy residency, post-graduate residency program specializing in drug information or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pharm D or advanced clinical training credentials. Recent experience in leading consultations with provincial working groups and committees preferred. Familiarity with SMART pumps and infusion pump dose error reduction software is an asset. Familiarity with pharmacy practice related to parenteral drugs, compounding, sterile product preparation and use of drug information resources is an asset.
