As one of the pharmacists at the Drumheller Health Centre you will collaborate with the client, physician and interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care. The Drumheller Health Centre is a busy 36 bed Acute Care and 88 bed Continuing Care facility. The facility’s acute care beds are a blend of rural general medicine, surgery, critical care and palliative care. The Drumheller Health Centre Pharmacy provides clinical and distribution services to Acute, Continuing Care and Emergency patients at the site. The pharmacist also rounds with the Internist daily. We provide a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for our pharmacists in Drumheller, where they have the opportunity to provide specialized and general medicine care to patients. The pharmacists on site work together to provide integrated care to patients admitted to the acute care unit as well as to continuing care. The pharmacy department strongly supports professional development and provides educational opportunities and support to facilitate pharmacist growth. As a pharmacist, you will be paired with a dedicated Clinical Practice Leader who will act as a mentor and coach to support you to build and advance the practice of pharmacy at the site. The Pharmacy department is supported by a team of Pharmacy Technicians and Assistant, led by the Operations Manager for Central Zone South, working towards their full scope of practice.
Description:
As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position. Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services. Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team. Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education. Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask. Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment. Rural hospital experience an asset.
