Required Qualifications:

Master of Science degree from a Pathologist’s Assistant Program. Four year undergraduate degree in biological science, medicine, anatomy or related discipline. Current membership with the Canadian Association of Pathology Assistants.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical and technical terminology. Advanced knowledge of gross dissection techniques and guidelines. Advanced knowledge of cancer staging and grading requirements and guidelines. Knowledge of tissue fixation and preservation techniques. Knowledge of biohazardous and infectious material handling and containment. Knowledge of general laboratory maintenance procedures. Knowledge of the College of Physician and Surgeons accreditation standards and requirements. Recognition and maintenance of privacy of information and patient confidentiality. Knowledge of Laboratory safety, infectious disease procedures and use of safety equipment and incident reporting. Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG). Knowledge of regulations and processes related to the Medical Examiner’s office and Funeral Homes.
