The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) is the largest free-standing, comprehensive tertiary rehabilitation hospital in Canada with an international reputation for excellence in serving patients of all ages who require complex rehabilitation to enable them to participate in life to the fullest. As a leading-edge academic teaching hospital, the Glenrose participates in educational training programs for health sciences professionals, offers an array of research and technology development opportunities and an extensive selection of continuing education courses. We are looking for an Orthotic Technician who will be working within a large team of Technicians and clinicians in Prosthetics, Orthotics and Seating to provide, repair and maintain orthoses for a wide demographic of patients. You will be involved in the use of a variety of different technologies using many materials and techniques. Maintaining and developing fabricating skills and procedures through continuing education is ongoing. As part of the Orthotics team, an awareness of conditions and measures that may affect the safety of patients, residents, students, employees, volunteers, physicians and visitors is critical.

As an Orthotic Technician, you will provide technical support to the Orthotists in the fabrication and repair of orthotic devices.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited educational program in orthotic and prosthetic techniques including fabrication and repair.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Membership in Orthotics Prosthetics Canada. Able to fabricate orthotic devices or have related experience. Demonstrated ability to meet production timelines and multitask, being responsible for several projects at a time. Show evidence of a commitment to continuous education. Have good communication and organizational skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the values of AHS: Compassion, Accountability, Excellence, Respect, and Safety. Provide back-up coverage to Orthotic Technicians during planned absences and as required. A willingness to learn computer-aided manufacturing processes required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience fabricating an extensive range of orthotic and prosthetic devices. Able to advise team on fabrication and design options in order to problem solve and obtain optimal design.
