Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager of East Edmonton Urgent Care Clinic, the Orthopaedic Technician will work as an essential member of the team, caring for a variety of patients with varying acuity. The OT role in UCC works to full scope practice and is responsible for planning, assessment, treatment and monitoring the care of the Orthopaedic and Urgent Care patients. The OT works in a fast-paced urban UCC department and demonstrates the ability to prioritize well and work with a multi-disciplinary team. The OT demonstrates ongoing professional development and occasionally engages the UCC department staff in basic orthopedic teaching. Bulk Hire includes position number 00195594. Description:
As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Current certification with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT). Minimum 2 years' experience working in an ER or UC setting. Minimum 3 years' experience as an Orthopaedic Tech in a clinic or ER. Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent professional interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. Up to date annual continuing education (ACE). CTAS training. Able to do full scope of practice.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong critical thinking skills, excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills, strong understanding of Family and Patient Centered Care philosophy, and experience using Connect Care.
