Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum Five years recent regular working experience as an LPN-Orthopedic Technician required. Minimum of three years’ experience of recent regular orthopedic nursing care experience required. Required to take direction and give direction to team members, act as a liaison between physicians and other health care professionals. Must have a minimum of 5 years pediatric experience. Required to have strong interpersonal skills and experience in inter-disciplinary team work. Must demonstrate ability: to work independently, have sound analytical judgement and reasoning, be able to demonstrate critical thinking skill, be self-directed, be able to problem solve and have exceptional organizational skills. Required to be able to stand, walk, bend and transfer patients throughout a shift. Must be able to move up to 40-75 pounds on a frequent basis. The Orthopedic Technician will be required to preceptor students as assigned. Proficient knowledge of computer applications including Connect Care, Microsoft word, Netcare.
