Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Qualifications:- Graduate of an ORT program or equivalent nursing experience. - Current experience operating room/scrub role (within past 2 years). - Ability to provide direct care to the perioperative patient in the theater as assigned. - Able to continually pay attention to detail and anticipate the scrub teams' demands. - Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapid moving, complex environment. - Able to demonstrate advanced organizational skills in the scrub role. - Ability to work in a high stress environment with appropriate responses. - Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours supporting the surgical team. - Basic computer skills are an asset.
Preferred Qualifications:Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta. - BCLS-HCP is required. - Certification as an Operating Room Technician (ORT) required. - Previous operating room experience an asset. - Recent experience in a high acuity operating room is preferred including knowledge, skills and abilities in advanced minimally invasive surgery- Candidate must be able to work within a team environment to effectively contribute to quality perioperative patient care.
