Completion of diploma from an accredited Ophthalmic Technology Program. Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthamology (JCAHPO).
Additional Required Qualifications:JCAHPO Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Medical Technologist Certification. Minimum 2 years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Technologist Performing ophthalmic technical duties. This may include subspecialty workups (retina, emergency clinic, glaucoma, neuro-ophthalmology, ocular oncology) as well as diagnostics; visual field testing (HVF/OVF), electrophysiology, imaging and sonography. 1– Years’ Experience with e-Clinician/ConnectCare, ESP. 1-2 years’ experience in managing complex schedules. Preferred Qualifications:Min 2 years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Technician or Ophthalmic Technologist in a hospital setting. Good understanding of HSAA, UNA, AUPE GSS Collective Agreements. Experience with ESP, ConnectCare, Intermediate Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple activities under complex and stressful environment.
