Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Perioperative certification from an institution that is recognized by the CLPNA. Ability to stand scrubbed for many hours and to meet the physical demands of the position including lifting, pulling and pushing of greater than 50 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to wear lead apron protection for an extended period of time. Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:At least 2 years of previous experience in an inpatient surgical unit. Experience in an operating room setting. Job Shadow in the Operating Room. Ability to collaborate within the expectations of a highly complex and integrated team. Ability to perform consistently in a highly organized, rapidly moving and complex environment. Demonstrated communication skills promoting respect and team spirit.
