Operating Room Technician - Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
The successful candidate will be primarily assigned to the Operating Room (OR), with duties extending to Acute Care, the Emergency Department (ER), and Obstetrics as needed. Stettler, known as the “Heart of Alberta,” is located 179 km southeast of Edmonton and 101 km east of Red Deer. As a regional hub, it serves a trading area of over 11,000 residents. The town offers a wide range of community amenities, including an elementary/junior high school, a composite high school, a public library, twin arenas, an aquatic center, a performing arts theatre, and several recreational facilities. The area also features multiple golf courses and is in close proximity to Buffalo Lake. Stettler Hospital includes a 26-bed Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit, featuring one Palliative Care suite, two Labour-Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) suites, and two monitored close observation beds. The facility also houses an 8-bed Emergency Department and supports a Surgical and Endoscopy Program. Successful candidates will be expected to provide care across multiple departments, including Acute Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Obstetrics.

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Operating Room Technician (ORT) designation or qualifications to obtain ORT designation with CLPNA.
Preferred Qualifications:Rural Nursing experience. Current certification in CAM A, CAM B, LEAD II, CTAS, and NRP. Completed / Current Connect Care training in Rural Nurse, Therapy Plan, Day Surgery, Labour and Delivery and Post Partum as applicable to scope. Rural Emergency and Obstetrical experience. Current required organizational learning.
