Required Qualifications:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program. Registered with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current Basic Life Support (BLS-HCP) certification is required. Experience in acute care in the areas of ADL, cognitive, edema, and functional assessment and interventions as well as splinting, skin grafts and wound care is required. Demonstrated clarity in your communication, organization, and consistency of ideas, both verbally and written, including clinical documentation, is required. You must be highly motivated, confident, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude whose work aligns with AHS Values. You must be able to act quickly and decisively using critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Able to utilize strong judgment by analyzing facts, considering the impact, and arriving at a sound conclusion, seeking counsel when appropriate. You can work independently and as a part of the team creating strong, effective interpersonal working relationships with peers and other caregivers. You are a reliable worker who uses time effectively and is able to prioritize and complete tasks in a busy work environment. You have effective teaching skills for students and other professionals. One year in the last 3 years of acute hospital experience required, preferably in the Edmonton zone, combinations of Covenant Health and AHS will be considered. Basic computer skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in multisystem trauma, splinting, seating and positioning, cognitive retraining, concussion management, Philadelphia collars, skin graft management, wound care and complex discharge planning skills are assets. Experience with elective and non-elective post-operative orthopedic conditions (hip, back, ankle, shoulder), cognitive assessment, wound care, and Philadelphia collars is an asset.
