Required Qualifications:

Must meet one of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirements: Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Evidence required upon hire; or candidate would be required to register for a HCA course from a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum within 155 hours or 6 weeks (whichever comes first), and successfully complete the course within 12 month timeline from date of hire.

Additional Qualifications:

Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with patients, visitors and staff. Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written English. Proven initiative, flexibility and dependability. Manages conflict effectively. Effective organization and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to function effectively and collaboratively within a patient and family centered healthcare team. Able to request and accept direction as required. Able to understand and relate to patients and families in a caring and respectful manner. Physically able to perform all assigned tasks. Basic computer skills including the use of Sunrise Clinical Manager are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in neuro rehabilitation (i.e. spinal cord injury, stroke and/or brain injury rehab) is preferred.
