Must meet one of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirements: Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Evidence required upon hire; or candidate would be required to register for a HCA course from a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum within 155 hours or 6 weeks (whichever comes first), and successfully complete the course within 12 month timeline from date of hire.
Additional Qualifications:Grade 12 or adult upgrading education equivalent. The successful candidate must commence training as a Health Care Aide and/or ACDS Foundations Training within the first year of employment. Ability to communicate effectively Reliable and dependable Ability to safeguard AHS information as private & confidential Ability to follow and adhere to AHS policies, procedures, goals and objectives Ability to complete all nursing attendant/careworker competencies/duties as outlined on approved job duty list In addition to Annual Continuing Education Requirements and Professional Development identified in the Collective Agreement the HCA/CRW must also complete job specific training in the Abuse Reporting Protocol, Restrictive Procedures, and Non Violent Crisis Intervention.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience an asset Health Care Aide and/or ACDS Foundations Training preferred Post secondary education in a related field will be considered
