Nurse Practitioner - Palliative Care
Your Opportunity:
In-patient palliative care service, with 1 dedicated physician. Supported by two community nurse practitioners. Seeking a nurse practitioner for 0.8 FTE position, Mon-Fri. No weekends, evenings, or holidays. No after hours on-call. The successful applicant will be able to work independently in a consultative basis. They will practice autonomously and collaboratively with strong organizational skills. They will have excellent interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills. As well as having a proficient ability to use Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and strong computer literacy. Preference will be given to those with experience as a prescribing NP. However, we are willing to train new grads and those unfamiliar with palliative care. The work is extremely rewarding. Palliative care includes symptom management, advance care planning, and end of life care and planning. Logistically, we do new consults within the Red Deer Regional Hospital and round on the in-patients we are following during our regular hours Mon-Fri.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
