Your Opportunity:

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a self-directed health care provider who, working collaboratively with the attending Hematologists is authorized to assess patients in the Ambulatory Care Clinic. The NP will take and write patients’ histories, complete physical examinations, write orders for prescriptions and lab tests, follow up on lab results, write and send referrals, provide patient and staff education as well as run NP lead clinics in the ambulatory setting. All duties and responsibilities of the NP will follow the guidelines developed by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta, the University of Alberta Hospital and the practice protocols of the Division of Hematology. This position will report jointly to the Patient Care Manager of Ambulatory Medicine at the KEC and to the Divisional Director of the Division of Hematology. Must be able to stand for long periods. This position will require the candidate to care for patients in Medical Outpatients and Adult Day Medicine. Connect Care experience.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Must demonstrate that the curriculum they attended contained: advanced health assessment, physiology, advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology, diagnostic reasoning, clinical decision making, advanced therapeutics, cultural diversity competency, physical activity and nutrition. Will demonstrate how their education and experience has prepared them for this advanced practice role. Experience working in Hematology. Experience working in Emergency and/ or ICU.

Preferred Qualifications:

Oncology experience. Therapy Plan Experience. Connect Care Beacon experience.
