Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program. Masters of Nursing degree required. Eligible for licensure with CARNA as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience working as an NP with the older adult population. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal skills. Demonstrated continuing education in the area of older adults. Proven initiative, autonomy, conflict resolution, critical thinking skills. Demonstrated compassionate, empathic and caring attitude. Demonstrated self-directedness in organizing work priorities. Demonstrates AHS competencies when working with patients/families, staff, and students. Demonstrated flexibility in meeting the unexpected spontaneous needs of a clinical area. Demonstrated ability to function effectively and collaboratively within a client and a family-centred team of health care professionals and support staff. Proven experience with teaching, supervision, coaching and mentorship. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders within and outside of AHS. Intermediate computer skills including the use of Microsoft office and other clinical information systems. Physically able to perform all required tasks e.g. carrying charts and equipment. This role requires the employee to sit for long periods. This position requires travel within the city of Calgary. Possession of a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

CNA certification in Gerontology. Minimum 3 years of experience with older adults in the community within the last 5 years. Experience completing autonomous home visits. Experience with ambulatory or community. Experience in nursing leadership roles. Experience in research and best practice implementation.
