Nurse Practitioner - General Internal Medicine
Your Opportunity:
AHS is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) - Adult to join the dynamic General Internal Medicine (GIM) team based out of the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC). You would be joining a portfolio that is building a collaborative team that is future focused. We will be developing models that reimagine inpatient care of complex acute medical patients embedded in an education focused structure. You will work on teams that support physicians, residents, medical students, clinical associates, pharmacists, nurses, and other allied health care providers. This position will provide frontline clinical care for the delivery of general medical care at PLC which includes admissions from the emergency department and inpatient care on the general medical units. There will be a focus in your portfolio of daily management of patients and an emphasis on disposition planning and transitions of care. Relationships with patients and their families will be central to your daily activities and advocacy around barriers to achieving their health care goals will be an asset. You will provide comprehensive, holistic and patient-family centred care and contribute patient care through advanced clinical practice, leadership, consultations, referrals, education, and research. You will be integrated in development of assessment of our care delivery and participate in QI initiatives. You will be encouraged to ask questions and be part of the process of adjusting to the metrics collected to improve our health outcomes. As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Nurse Practitioner experience in general internal medicine. Experience working with adult medical patients within the last 5 years. Experience with the development and/or implementation of evidence-based practice. Experience with program development. Completion of leadership related courses within last 3 years. Progressive nursing leadership experience within last 3 years.
