Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join the dynamic adult General Internal Medicine (GIM) team based out of the Foothills Medical Centre (FMC). This position will provide frontline clinical care for the delivery of general internal medicine care at FMC which includes admissions from the emergency department and inpatient care on the General Internal Medicine units. The NP will manage patients admitted to the General Internal Medicine (GIM) service and collaborate with the GIM team including physicians, inpatient and outpatient nursing staff and leaders, Allied Health team members (including but not limited to Pharmacy and Social Work), subspecialists and FMC administration to ensure seamless transfers into and out of hospital of this complex, high needs, patient group. The NP will provide comprehensive, holistic and patient-family centered care and contribute to patient care through advanced clinical practice, leadership, consultations, referrals, education and research. In addition, the NP will provide nursing education and leadership locally, provincially and nationally, and will be involved in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and program development related to general internal medicine patients. The NP requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative and trusting relationships with staff, the management team, physicians and all members of the interdisciplinary team and will demonstrate skills in the areas of organization, critical thinking, conflict resolution, advanced problem solving, interdisciplinary leadership and change management. A passion for caring for patients with medical complexity, and their families, is essential.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program and a minimum of master's degree. Registration with CRNA on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Nurse Practitioner experience in general internal medicine. Experience working with adult medical patients within the last 5 years. Experience with the development and/or implementation of evidence-based practice. Experience with program development. Completion of leadership related courses within last 3 years. Progressive nursing leadership experience within last 3 years.
