Nurse Practitioner
Your Opportunity:
The incumbent: Consults with, and informs Physicians regarding client status, modifying nursing care plans accordingly. Coordinates service and provides nursing care, for assigned clients, at the level of a Nurse Practitioner. Performs comprehensive medical/nursing assessments and treatments, including (but not limited to) physical and cognitive evaluations; diagnosis and implementation of treatment; ordering and interpretation of diagnostic investigations (i.e. laboratory and diagnostic imaging); authorization of medications (i.e., palliative drug program, dementia treatment medications); prescribing home oxygen; and authorizing pressure gradient stockings. Authorizes medications in accordance with the Prescribing and Distribution guidelines set out by CRNA. Provides preventive and therapeutic health teaching to clients and families, encourages independence and assists clients with adjustments to limitations. Functions in a consultative capacity to support and compliment the Home Care case managers and interdisciplinary team to work to their full scope of practice. PLEASE NOTE: This is an ON-SITE position that requires reporting to an office site daily. There is no opportunity for remote work/work from home

You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a registered nurse with advanced knowledge, skills and competencies. The NP integrates elements into their practice such as diagnosing, ordering and interpreting investigative tests, treating health problems and prescribing drugs. The Nurse Practitioner is accountable and responsible for the safe provision of nursing care in the home/community setting, consistent with the scope of practice as established by the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) The Nurse Practitioner provides a standard of care to clients that will meet individual client needs in accordance with established nursing standards, policies and procedures of Alberta Health Services. The Nurse Practitioner combines the nursing profession’s focus on improving health and preventing illness, with enhanced knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
