Your Opportunity:

The primary responsibility of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is to provide comprehensive direct patient care within their skill matrix as a central member of the team. The NP is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessment, diagnosis (including the ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including the prescribing of medications), management, referral, and evaluation of client care across the continuum of health care services. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities. The NP will participate in interdisciplinary collaboration in a family medicine practice setting which includes after hour services. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position is part of Primary Care Alberta. Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

ACLS - mandatory. Must possess a sound understanding of the determinants of health. Computer literacy skills mandatory with preference for EMR experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

BTLS optional. Completion of one or more of: Emergency Nursing Course, Pediatric Advance Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Course, or other advance clinical nursing skills preferred. Additional training in CTAS scoring, EKG, lab and other diagnostic results would be an asset. Experience in a wide range of assessment, treatment and therapeutic interventions, health promotion, diagnostic procedures, and follow-up care in the community considered and asset.
