Your Opportunity:
The Rockyview ICU is recruiting a Nurse Practitioner to add to our multidisciplinary team of critical care providers. The ICU Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed advanced practice nurse who functions in a collaborative practice model. This role integrates aspects of nursing and medicine within a multi-professional team setting to provide comprehensive and high-quality patient care to critically ill patients. The RGH ICU Nurse Practitioners currently support Monday – Friday daytime care and coverage, with hours of practice as per determined operational needs. Future development of the NP role will include 24/7 coverage of the ICU and critical care consults on site.
Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Prior ICU clinical background. Minimum 600 clinical hours as a Nurse Practitioner. Training and competency to complete diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Current ACLS.
Preferred Qualifications:NP experience in an acute care setting preferred. Proficiency in ACLS and interventional procedures is highly desirable. Proficiency with EHR documentation (EPIC) and other clinical / computer applications. Teaching experience. Participation in research and research activities.
