Your Opportunity:

Alberta Children’s Hospital is a vibrant workplace where staff partner together with patients & families to provide services in inpatient & ambulatory settings. The ACH Hospital Complex Care Program (H-CCP) supports a combination of acute & ambulatory service for the most fragile pediatric patients with medical & social complexity, as part of the larger Integrated Complex Care Program. As a member of the H-CCP, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team providing collaborative family-centered care to Children with Medical Complexity (CMC). The role is primarily clinical comprising assessment, diagnosis, case management, coordination & care planning, working to the full scope of NP practice. The NP will hold autonomous decision-making as per CARNA standards, & will be supported by group of assigned Hospital Pediatricians who oversee the broader care trajectory for patients. The H-CCP is a valuable component of work within the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine and is highly regarded as a bridge from care in hospital to the community for CMC who have spent prolonged periods of time in hospital. The NP role is central to patients & families in the program. The successful candidate will work alongside other members of the CCP including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, & dietitians, and will provide comprehensive, holistic, patient-family centered care and contribute through advanced clinical practice, leadership, consultations, referrals, education & research. The NP requires strong interpersonal skills & ability to build collaborative & trusting relationships with staff, management, physicians, & all members of the interdisciplinary team & will demonstrate skills in the areas of communication, organization, critical thinking, conflict resolution, advanced problem solving, leadership & change management.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for ensuring that his/her registration is current and valid. Knowledge of Epic/Connect Care EMR. Demonstrated commitment to Patient & Family Centered Care. Ability to foster a culture of innovation/change through innovative problem solving in the medical context. Commitment to Alberta Health Services Vision, Mission, Core Values and Goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with Children with medical Complexity. Previous experience working in both inpatient and ambulatory settings. Microsoft Office Suite knowledge. Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (PALS). Experience with the development and/or implementation of evidence-based practice. Experience with program development.
