Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Outpatients at the Foothills Medical Centre, the Nurse Practitioner is a self-directed advanced practice nurse functioning as an integral part of the Alberta Thoracic Oncology Program at the Foothills Medical Centre. The primary responsibility of the NP is to provide comprehensive direct patient care for outpatients referred to the clinic as a core member of the team. The ATOP NP is authorized and competent to perform comprehensive assessment, triage, diagnosis (including ordering and interpretation of tests), intervention (including prescribing of medications), management, referral, and evaluation of client care. The ATOP NP works in close collaboration with another specialist MD's. The NP provides leadership and actively participates in program development and evaluation, research, and clinical teaching activities.

Description:

As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Required Qualifications:

Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

The NP is a Registered Nurse who has successfully completed an approved NP program and holds a Master of Nursing with a focus on advanced clinical nursing practice. Current registration with CARNA as an NP in the Adult stream. Minimum of 2 years recent experience as an NP in a relevant outpatient clinical setting and / or front-line clinical RN work. Current BCLS.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strongly recommended to have a background in Pulmonary nursing, acute care and/or Outpatient settings. Additional training in ECG interpretation, Lab and DI investigations would be an asset.
