Are you a motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) that wants to use your expertise toward the treatment of Albertan’s fighting Cancer? AHS is seeking an NP to join the dynamic Ambulatory Oncology team at the state-of-the-art Arthur Child Cancer Centre. You will be an integral member of our healthcare team working within a multidisciplinary and fast paced environment with a passion for patient and family centered cancer care. The focus of this position will be clinical practice as you contribute to a cohesive, consistent collaboration with the oncologist and nursing teams. In addition, you will provide nursing education, leadership, and be and important contributor to ongoing quality improvement. The NP requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative and trusting relationships with staff, the management team, physicians, and all members of the interdisciplinary team. You will demonstrate proven skills in the areas of organization, critical thinking, conflict resolution, advanced problem solving, interdisciplinary leadership and change management. The successful NP will bring a core passion for caring for patients and their families. The NP will enjoy a progressive, team-oriented environment working with and alongside experts in the field of oncology and work that includes mostly day schedules and the ability to negotiate an FTE that balances operational demands and employee preferences. Excitingly, the new Arthur Child at 1.3 million square feet is designed for the future of cancer care housing advanced technologies within an integrated environmental design to support patients as well as clinicians. Description:
As a Nurse Practitioner (NP), you will provide a full range of comprehensive health services to individuals across their lifespan. You will be responsible for integrating clinical skills associated with nursing and medicine to assess, diagnose, order, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatment, and perform procedures to manage and meet the health needs of patients. Additionally, you will utilize advanced practice nursing competencies related to Clinical Practice, Leadership and Optimizing Health Systems, Education, and Research to increase care quality, promote appropriate use of health services, and inform and influence healthcare systems. Successful completion of an approved Nurse Practitioner program, with a minimum of a Master's degree. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) on the Nurse Practitioner Registrar, including Provisional Graduate Nurse Practitioner licensure. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, including oncologists and other specialized multidisciplinary roles. Ability to promote change process. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience with excellent patient and family centered care. Please note this posting will be used to fill 2 available positions. FTE can range from 0.8 to 1.0.
Preferred Qualifications:Canadian Nurses Association certification credentials in Oncology nursing. NP experience in Oncology or Acute Care or evidence of expert level practice skills. Experience in advanced practice role and related certifications, such as CON(C). Clinical Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook Express and access to electronic medical records (Epic and Alberta NetCare).
