Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years of recent experience (within the past two years) in Public Health Nursing (E.g. Well Child Clinic, Health Beginnings, School Health Program) is required. Ability to be self-directed and to exercise independent nursing judgment required. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills required. Experience in interdisciplinary team work required. Strong written and oral communication skills required. Strong analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and organizational skills required. Ability to deliver educational presentations (public speaking) to adults is required. Working knowledge of computer applications including basic word processing, email, Internet access and data entry required. Recent experience (within the past two years) working with an EMR (EG. Meditech, eClinician, Connect Care) is required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing (BN), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Bachelor of Nursing is preferred, but other skills and experiences relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:Canadian Nurses Association Certification in Community Health Nursing an asset; International Board of Lactation Consultants certification an asset. Experience working with teens, diverse cultures, and marginalized populations and knowledge, understanding and demonstrated use of the social determinants of health and health promotion is preferred.
