Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing required. Minimum 5 years’ experience working in GI/Endoscopy assisting with colonoscopies, gastroscopies, bronchoscopies, biopsies, cautery, variceal banding, polypectomies and administrating of procedural sedation. Recent Charge Nurse experience. Must be able to work on-call. Experience with staff and patient mediation, problem solving and workflow coordination. Ability to engage others and achieve results, and to promote and lead change within a team. Demonstrated clear pattern of personal and professional development; completion of communication and leadership courses required. Able to demonstrate and articulate key competencies from LEADS in a caring environment, specifically in the domains of Leads Self. Annual clinical competencies up to date. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Strong leadership, coaching, critical thinking and decision-making abilities required. Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced dynamic environment where effective organization, prioritization, and multitasking skills are required. Previous experience preceptoring students and/or orienting new staff. Participation in unit and/or hospital-based initiatives and committees. Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment with long periods of standing, pulling and pushing stretchers, and where constant walking, lifting and bending are required.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous Nurse Clinician experience preferred. CVC level 1 certification preferred. Procedural sedation certification preferred. ACLS certification preferred. Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) certification or equivalent preferred. Proficiency using Endopro IQ and Netcare.
