Your Opportunity:

This position is for an inpatient Nurse Clinician. Unit 95/125 is an inpatient unit with the patient focus of Intensive Palliative Care/Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology. The Nurse Clinician is responsible a regulated member of the health care team who is in a leadership role. The Nurse Clinician is responsible to provide clinical leadership for the staff and coordination of care for the patient. Advanced competency skills, such as epidurals, central line care and access, delivery of systemic therapy, and radioactive iodine treatment are some examples of treatment modalities used for this patient population. To be successful you will have strong clinical thinking skills, change management, the ability to prioritize competing demands, excellent communication skills and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

Description:

As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated accountability, critical thinking effective interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to function both independently and collaborative within a team. Ability to cope with change and the emotions of grief. Minimum 5 years current acute care experience. Minimum 2 years charge experience in an acute care setting. Experience in pain management including advanced competencies such as PCA’s and Epidurals. Central Venous Catheter Competence. Competence in Connect Care Use. Well versed in the elements of CoAct. Participation/ experience in quality improvement work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Palliative experience or Palliative certificate. Oncology experience within the last 5 years – including competence with systemic therapy. Nurse Clinician experience in last 2 years.
