An exciting opportunity waits for a nurse seeking to expand their clinical leadership in a busy emergency room in an urban facility. South Health Campus is seeking a highly motivated, independent RN to work in the emergency department in a temporary nurse clinician role, acting as the clinical leader for each shift, managing patient flow and supporting the team. The South Health Campus (SHC) has four key pillars of service: Collaborative Practice, Wellness, Patient and Family Centered Care, and Innovation. These pillars are guiding the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at SHC. The successful candidate will coordinate the workflow and delivery of patient care by reassessing priorities and respond; accordingly, act as a patient advocate and provide a link between the patients, families and care providers to identify and resolve issues while demonstrating professional leadership and acting as a role model to enhance positive interpersonal relationships and team effectiveness. Passion for quality improvement on the unit; commitment to excellence in patient and family centered care; ability to act as a mentor using the principles of adult learning; communication skills both verbal and written; conflict resolution, critical thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills; positive attitude and ability to foster and promote a positive team environment are all required of this role. The successful candidate will be accountable to the public for his/her own practice, responsible for ensuring that their practice meets legislative requirements and the practice standards of the College of Registered Nurses Alberta (CRNA).
Description:
As a Nurse Clinician (NC), you will be responsible for the coordination of an interprofessional team, in the provision of quality patient (client, resident) care in order to meet the operational priorities and requirements within a clinical setting. You will use an integrative leadership approach in assisting, planning, implementing and evaluating care needs, while assuming responsibility for staff assignments, patient flow and clinical resources. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 2 years full time equivalent as a Registered Nurse in a Calgary Zone Emergency Department setting required. Current experience as a Nurse Clinician OR Nurse in Charge of a Calgary Zone Emergency Department required. Demonstrated clinical expertise with pediatric and adult patient populations required. Proficiency with computer systems is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Current Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nurses Pediatric Course (ENPC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred. Current Certification in Emergency Practice Interventions and Care (EPIC) preferred. Graduate from Advanced Critical Care Nursing (ACCN) in Emergency preferred. Demonstrated understanding of LEADS framework.
