Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 - 5 years of recent (within the past year) intensive experience in Vascular Surgery. Minimum 1 year recent (within the past year) surgical charge nurse experience. Current VSCU certification. Demonstrated working knowledge of the CoACT process. Demonstrated expertise in use of nursing process – assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. Ability to display communication and collaboration skills with other health professionals. Demonstrated leadership and conflict management skills. Ability to promote the change process. Application and promotion of problem solving and creative thinking. Ability to critique development of staff and provide meaningful feedback. Prioritizing and meeting competing demands/requirements of setting. Ability to comply with AHS Hand Hygiene Policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

Baccalaureate in nursing degree preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered. Preference will be given to those with prior clinician experience. Preference will be given to those with additional Oral Max, ENT and Podiatry experience. Demonstrated proficiency in: Basic computer skills, Clinibase, Sunrise Clinical Manager (SCM), and Alberta Netcare.
