Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is recruiting a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). Just steps from Edmonton’s vibrant Ice District, the RAH is an 882-bed facility and the largest, busiest hospital in Western Canada serving a population that spans one-third of the country’s land mass. In this role, you will perform a wide range of nuclear medicine and PET/CT procedures to support the diagnosis, evaluation, and monitoring of disease and pathology. Following established protocols, you will operate and maintain specialized equipment such as gamma cameras, PET/CT, computers, ECG monitors, cardiac stress testing systems, and radiation safety devices. Duties include preparing, calculating, and administering radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring strict adherence to radiation safety standards, and protecting both patients and staff. You will also maintain accurate records and documentation while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, precise, and compassionate care.

Description:

As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of nuclear medicine procedures for the diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. As a NMT I, you will perform Nuclear Medicine procedures as described in the department procedure manual using a wide range of equipment such as gamma cameras, computers, ECG monitors, cardiac stress equipment, and radiation safety devices.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).

Additional Required Qualifications:

ACMDTT Enhanced Practice certification and PET/CT experience. Connect Care training an asset. Large Acute Care hospital experience delivering proactive, integrated clinical practice is preferred (at least 1 year within the last 3 years).

Responsibility to work effectively both independently and within a team environment. Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. Demonstrates initiative, good judgement, positive attitude and concern for detail and accuracy. Ability in the use of tact, courtesy and professionalism with patients, staff and physicians.
