Reporting to the Care Manager for Children Youth & Families Addiction and Mental Health, the Addiction and Mental Health Therapist (MHT) with the Crisis & Stabilization Team will provide mental health and risk assessment, triage and referral, as well as crisis intervention, de-escalation and short term brief solution focused therapy. This position will require the ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and the flexibility to adjust to the demands of ongoing program development. The MHT works as part of the Crisis Team and will be required to respond to Emergency Departments (may include Suburban ED’s after hours, evenings and weekends) and community homes/agencies to provide mobile Mental Health and risk assessments. The MHT will be required to provide Children’s Crisis telephone service along with appropriate intervention and response to crisis situations as needed. In addition, scheduled time providing Walk-in services utilizing a Solution Focused approach will be expected. The MHT will also be required to liaise with the Urgent Clinic Psychiatrist, Emergency Room Consultation/ Psychiatry staff, the Psychiatrist on-call, EPS/RCMP and other community partners, as well as have significant knowledge with both facility and community resources in order to effectively assess and refer clients appropriately. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.
