Your Opportunity:
Recovery Alberta’s Crisis Response Team provides timely, compassionate, and professional support to individuals experiencing acute mental health and addiction crises. The team is dedicated to promoting recovery, safety, and dignity through evidence-informed interventions and strong collaboration with community partners. We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Therapist to join our Crisis Response Team on a casual basis. This role is ideal for a skilled clinician who thrives in fast-paced environments and is committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals in acute crisis. As part of a dynamic team, the successful candidate will respond to individuals in crisis, conduct thorough assessments, and provide immediate interventions that promote stabilization and safety. This position requires strong clinical judgment, collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations. Clinicians use evidence-informed practices to support individuals experiencing mental health or addiction-related crises while ensuring continuity of care through collaboration with healthcare and community partners. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments in crisis situations. Deliver evidence-informed interventions for individuals experiencing mental health or addiction crises. Develop and implement safety and stabilization plans in collaboration with clients and supports. Provide education, advocacy, and referrals to support continuity of care. Collaborate with hospitals, physicians, law enforcement, and community services to ensure coordinated care. Document clinical interactions in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
Description:
As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field. Current registration and in good standing with the relevant professional college. Minimum 3 years of direct clinical experience in addiction and mental health. Strong background in crisis intervention, assessment, and safety planning. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in high-pressure environments. Excellent communication, clinical judgment, problem-solving, and de-escalation skills. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024.
