Shared Mental Health Care is looking for an experienced, skilled, enthusiastic and dynamic team member to fill the position of a temporary 0.9 FTE Mental Health Therapist. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a continuum of treatment services in partnership with medical clinic staff. The successful candidate will complete screening, assessment, treatment planning, case management and therapeutic interventions in individual and group settings. This person will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion and able complete referrals to various treatment/community programs. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, allied professionals and community agencies to provide seamless service to clients and their significant collaterals in various stages of recovery. This person requires a high degree of clinical skill and experience as well as exceptional interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will have the ability to function independently in a non-AHS work setting and AHS settings, as they will bridge services between medical clinics and other AHS Addiction and Mental Health programs. This person will have an understanding of prevention, health promotion and community development practices, along with the ability to provide consultation and direct services to enable communities to effectively deal with addiction and mental illness. Reports to Manager of the Shared Mental Health Care Services. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have psychosocial intervention authorization. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing with related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b) experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention is required.
